What's in Comfort Soap?

Sweet Almond Oil is a great nutrient for softening and conditioning skin. It's especially suitable for eczema, itchy, dry and inflamed skin. It contains vitamins and minerals and makes a great massage oil. It’s used in lotion bars, lotions, and balms.  I include it to create mild soaps with generous lather, such as Oakmoss.

Apricot Kernel Oil, light yet rich (high in oleic and linoleic acids), is especially beneficial for mature, sensitive skin or inflamed or dry skin.  Used in massage oils, creams and lotions.  I use it in Love Child, which I’ve heard from customers has helped significantly with “chicken skin,” or keratosis pilatoris.  It’s also in Mango Tango.

Avocado Oil, highly therapeutic, is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, Panthothenic acid, Vitamin D, E, protein, lecithin and fatty acids. It's a very good, penetrating nutrient for dry skin and eczema. Avocado oil is said to have healing and regenerating qualities. Restorative and soothing for sensitive and aging skin.  I use it in Love Child, Funky Fennel, and of course Avocado Indulgence.

Coconut oil is great for dry, itchy, sensitive skin and produces a harder soap with a wonderful fluffy lather.  It appears in Love Child, Oakmoss, Lavender Lullaby, and Avocado Indulgence.

Jojoba Oil is technically not an oil but a liquid wax with the traits of both, making it a great ingredients in soaps, creams, and massage oils. It is highly penetrating and closely resembles our sebum (the oils naturally produced by our skin glands). Contains myristic acid, which is anti-inflammatory, making it a good oil for arthritis and rheumatism. Jojoba also makes an excellent hair conditioner. Top quality jojoba oil is pressed only once from the seeds using minimum pressure to obtain a fine quality oil. It is then pasteurized and filtered. I use it in soaps meant as facial moisturizers, such as Oakmoss and Mango Tango.

Olive Oil is good for rheumatic conditions and inflamed skin because it attracts external moisture to the skin and still allows normal functions of the skin (such as sweating, shedding of dead skin and releasing sebum) to take place.  I include olive oil in Oakmoss, Funky Fennel, and Avocado Indulgence.

Although Palm Oil contributes little to skin care and would not make a quality bar of soap by itself, it makes a nice hard bar when used in combination with other oils such as coconut and olive oil. I include it in Avocado Indulgence, Funky Fennel, and Oakmoss.

Palm Kernel Oil has a high percentage of lauric acid, which allows it to produce a hard soap that lathers well. It lends a smooth texture to soap. I add it to Love Child, Lavender Lullaby, and Mango Tango.

Mango Butter is obtained from the kernels of the mango tree.  It has a high content of stearic acid and protects the skin against excess sun.  It is said to prevent drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles.  It reduces degeneration of skin cells and restores flexibility. I add mango butter to Oakmoss and Mango Tango.

African healers have used Shea Butter for thousands of years as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its moisturizing properties help retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter also protects the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration. I include it in moisturizing soaps such as Oakmoss and Lavender Lullaby.
